“Will you go out with me?” He had the confidence of a lion, and looked like a giraffe in red school boy glasses. Red rimmed uber cool school boy glasses, worn by the king nerd of all nerds. He would never have the ability to wear a straight tie, it wasn’t in his DNA. God he had big ears. The Alfred E; Newman of all giraffes stood dead in front of Selene Rene, What was he six’ seven”? Where did this bespeckled dork of a dude get off on asking Selene Rene out for a Velvet Elvis at the bookstore?”
“Velvet Elvis?” Selene asked?
“Latte. It’s awesome. I’m Rocky.”
She looked him up and down twice, and with a mental snarl while she smiled. He was kinda cute, in an animalistic sort of way. She watched him scratch behind his ear then his nose. He looked at her and waited for an answer, swinging his arms from side to side. His neck swayed and moved in the opposite direction of his shuffling feet and pendulum hands.
Selene Rene smiled, bowed her head and her eyelashes fluttered.
“Half a block down from the Charlie Jupiter Hamilton Mural, is the coffee shop with Mid Century Modern Architecture, my least favorite kind,. It’s painted that weird turquoise blue that was so popular in the 50’s. It’s right there. I forgot the name of the place, but I’ll meet you there at 7:00 for a Velvet Elvis. They’re awesome.” Rocky loped off, like he had somewhere to be, but wasn’t in a hurry to get there. He knew she’d be there.
